Sustainable development goal 11: make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

The speed of population growth is rapidly far beyond our imagination. The amount of people living the city is more than that of countryside. By 2015, there are nearly 4 billion people, 54% of the world`s population, will live in city. This figure will reach 5 billion by 2030. The rapid irrational urbanization brings numerous serious issues, including the growth of slum dwellers, increasing air pollution, inadequate basic service and infrastructure.

The proportion of urban population living slum has declined by 20% since 2000, but the absolute number continue to grow.

The speed of urban land expansion is faster than the population growth(irrational suburb sprawl )
The rate of waste served by municipal waste system is only 65%
Air pollution becoming serious issue is an unavoidable and major health hazard
More than 75% countries realize the importance of cooperating with urban planning to achieve SDG 11
