The idea green grid strategy in Sydney can be seen as the inspiration by the green grid in London, which aims to create interlinked and multi-purpose open spaces network. the green grid strategy can be seen as the process of overlaying different significant layers, including flood risk, visitor experience, 5Km cycle radius, open space corridors and public transport infrastructure.

The benefits brought by the green grid strategy are various in different aspects, which includes individual health, ecosystem, city development and planning level.

In the green grid strategy, the Sydney is divided into six subregions including west, west central, north, central, south west and south.

For the green grid strategy in Sydney, the process for the strategy is to identify the exsisting open space and how to link these isolated open spaces as open space network. the creek network, Sydney topography, 2014 NSW bike strategy, transit network, proposed center are used for this step. The green grid strategy considers the influence of transport infrastructure, exsisting ecological system, geo system and residential areas to create the efficient open space neetwork, which has potential to promote pedestrian movement in the future.
